What Is a Home Health Aide?

A Home Health Aide (HHA) is a trained healthcare professional who provides personal care and support to individuals in their homes. HHAs assist elderly, disabled, and chronically ill clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and mobility.

They also help monitor basic health needs, provide companionship, and report changes to healthcare supervisors. Home Health Aides play an important role in helping clients remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.

This career offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a growing healthcare field.

The objective of this program is to prepare students to become skilled and qualified Home Health Aides who work under the supervision of licensed nurses and healthcare professionals. Graduates are trained to assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and providing emotional and physical support to both clients and their families. Students also gain a strong understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities to ensure safe, professional, and high-quality care.
