Assistance with Self Administration of Medication:   Course Description:   This 6-hour hands-on Medication Technician training meets the Florida Department of Elder Affairs guidelines for those assisting with medication in Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs). Our in-person,  training ensures participants gain the practical skills needed to safely administer and assist with medications.”

Techniques for assisting residents with self-administration of medication
Recognizing and managing medication errors
Reading and Understanding Prescription Labels
Trainees will practice accurately interpreting medication labels to ensure correct assistance.
Assisting with Various Medication Forms
Oral, topical, ophthalmic (eye), otic (ear), and nasal medications
Measuring liquid medications and assisting with breaking or crushing tablets as prescribed
Techniques for Assisting with Self-Administration
This includes recognizing medications needing clarification and reporting any uncertainties.
How to Maintain a Medication Observation Record (MOR)
Accurate documentation of each medication event to ensure accountability.
Monitoring and Reporting Adverse Reactions
Using Glucometers
Safe Use of Medical Devices
Supporting residents with nebulizers, CPAP devices, and oxygen nasal cannulas.
Proper Storage and Retrieval of Medications
Ensuring medications are stored correctly and retrieved efficiently for each resident.
Infection Control Techniques
Following best practices to minimize contamination risks during medication assistance.

Refund Policy

Registration, Cancellation, and Refund Policy

All payments made for the Medication Technician and CNA Preparation courses at Helping Hearts Training Center are final and non-refundable.

Due to limited class sizes, instructor scheduling, and advance preparation of course materials, no refunds will be issued for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Student cancellation

  • Scheduling conflicts

  • Personal emergencies

  • Failure to attend

  • Withdrawal before or after class begins

Once a student completes registration and submits payment, a seat is reserved and cannot be reassigned on short notice.

Transfer/Credit Policy

(If Applicable)

At the discretion of Helping Hearts Training Center, and on a case-by-case basis, payments may be applied as a one-time credit toward a future Medication Technician or CNA Prep class within six (6) months of the original registration date. Credits are non-transferable and subject to seat availability.

Approval of credit requests is not guaranteed.

Responsibility of the Student

It is the student’s responsibility to review all course policies prior to registration. By enrolling and submitting payment, the student acknowledges and agrees to this cancellation and refund policy.

Certification & Requirements
Participants will receive a certificate of completion upon finishing the course, meeting the requirements for Med Techs in Florida ALFs.”
